Our Story

Since 1952, the Newtown Ambulance Squad has proudly served our community with a team of dedicated volunteer and career paramedics and emergency medical technicians. Our mission is simple: respond to every call with professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping those in need.

As a proud member of the Bucks County EMS System, Newtown EMS answered 3,001 calls for service in 2025. Operating from our station in Newtown Township, and our sub-station at the Upper Makefield Fire Department in Washington Crossing, we respond rapidly and effectively.

Over the past 70+ years, emergency medical services have evolved dramatically. Through updated Pennsylvania Department of Health protocols, our EMTs and paramedics are continually expanding their scope of practice — allowing us to deliver more advanced care in the field, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the time patients spend in the hospital. With these advances come ongoing operational challenges, and we remain committed to meeting them head-on.

We believe in an open and connected community. If you'd like a tour of our facilities, are interested in riding along with one of our crews, or simply want to share your thoughts, ideas, or concerns, we welcome you. Our door is always open.
